RMCLink Connects MATLAB to Delta Motion Controllers

August 1, 2014, — Battle Ground , WA — Delta Computer Systems, Inc. announces a new release of the company’s RMCLink software, which adds easy-to-use communication capability between MATLAB mathematical modeling software and Delta’s RMC family of motion controllers. Using the new interface, machine builders or testing labs can retrieve plot data for analysis, develop optimized motion control algorithms and download them directly to a motion controller for execution.

Delta’s RMCLink enables the user to directly access any of Delta Computer System’s RMC family of motion controllers from a personal computer running numerous programming languages and applications. Supporting serial or Ethernet communications, RMCLink gives PC applications complete access to read and write program and data registers in the motion controller, read I/O status and data bits, and issue commands to all RMC70 and RMC150 controllers. The software is provided free when using Delta Computer Systems RMC motion controllers.

Included in the latest RMCLink release is MATLAB documentation, and a MATLAB sample program. An example script is included as a MATLAB .m file in the RMCLink example projects that are downloadable from Delta’s website www.deltamotion.com. Other RMCLink Com Component interfaces include LabVIEW, PHP, Jscript, VBScript, VBA and Visual Basic.

"The new MATLAB and RMCLink interface allows customers in academia and industry to perform testing and data acquisition using DELTA RMC motion controllers for applications demanding precise control and traceability for position, speed, pressure or force," stated Steve Nylund, Delta’s CEO.

About MATLAB

MATLAB® from Mathworks is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Using MATLAB, one can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. The language, tools, and built-in math functions enable you to explore multiple approaches and reach a solution faster than with spreadsheets or traditional programming languages, such as C/C++ or Java™.
